Trump’s ‘scorched earth’
becomes new worry for Clinton-world
With a description of the “scorched earth”
strategy in history
The Daily Walk with Miracles, October 14, 2016, by Paul Evans, (email email@example.com), with main news source of Trump’s ‘scorched earth’ becomes new worry for Clintonworld, The Hill (see our RSS news feed of The Hill in the sidebar), October 14, 2016, by Amie Parnes, with accompanying music video of Tchaikovsky – 1812 Overture (Full with Cannons), YouTube classical music video — 15:08. In memory of my dad, Russian language and literature professor Jack E. Evans (1925-2012, R.I.P.), WWII marine officer, ASA, AFSIA, NSA, CIA and Yale Ph.D., God rest your soul. The “Hammer and Keyboard” featured photograph is meant as a sort of “new logo” for The Daily Walk with Miracles in token to our difficult, daily struggle to bring the (almost) unfettered truth to the American people about politics and the way things are in the world.

SUMMARY and Conclusions: The United States can’t conduct it’s most sacred political function with any decency, nor field any truly worthwhile candidates for either party (although I greatly prefer Donald Trump), yet meanwhile China is planning 100 years into the future. Meanwhile the unmitigated greed of the elite and super-rich continue unabated. America seems to many intelligent thinkers to be utterly economically doomed, short term. Most of our problems could be in many ways fixed by the simple expedients of nationalizing the big investment banks, enacting legislation for a somewhat progressive fair and flat tax, and legislating publicly funded elections, but we aren’t going to do that, are we? Simply because of greed, and a failure to understand that karma applies to economic matters, too, the American people and people all over the world must suffer grave injustices now, and even much more for the future in the short term. Americans are a truly great people, yet we are almost enslaved. The reforms given above are simple basic reforms which could readily be enacted, but you know and I know that they very probably will not be. This is no kind of call for revolution or anything like it. If these reforms were enacted, the rich would continue ruling in their typical fashion, yet these ideas would make America prosperous for everyone.
Donald Trump’s tax plan is in many ways a somewhat progressive fair and flat tax which does not call itself that, and is good medicine for America. Of course the devil is in the details and trying to get a decently structured package of this through our influenced Congress is likely to be impossible. For reasons like this, either in the short term under Obama or even should the economic collapse hold off until Trump (or, God forbid, Clinton) takes office, I believe the American economy, as well as the global economy, is probably going to collapse, and the people of the world suffer greatly. You may not like the truth, but that is what we provide here at The Daily Walk with Miracles. Because of unreasoning greed, there will be a price to pay. God is not mocked, and “as ye sow, so shall ye reap.” Karma is an inevitable law of the universe, mitigated and superseded only by God’s Grace, but usually one’s karmic fate is the outcome. It’s just a damned shame that ordinary Americans, and people who “get it,” have been and are going to suffer terribly simply because of the elite’s unreasoning greed. “If you don’t like the truth, change it.” ~ Paul

The “Scorched Earth” in History
Paul Evans: The term “scorched earth” has it’s origin from 1812 in the Napoleonic wars of 1793 (the French revolution) to 1815 (Waterloo). In 1812 Napoleon, in a classic blunder, invaded Russia (History.com) with his so-called Grande Armée, and in fact occupied Moscow for a short time. However the Russians under General Kutuzov began to “scorch the earth” behind them, destroying Russian towns and crops and leaving Napoleon’s bloated army of some 600,000 with no food source. After the Battle of Borodino on September 7, 2012, “the largest and bloodiest single-day action of the Napoleonic Wars, involving more than 250,000 soldiers and resulting in 70,000 casualties,” (Wikipedia), the French actually occupied Moscow for a short time. Soon, however, attrition and and an effective “disinformation campaign” by the Russians suggesting the Russians were ready to collapse, fooled Napoleon into a further battle, Maloyaroslavets. Here the Russians, despite having the superior situation, once again retreated. Soon after this, Napoleon, “his troops exhausted, with few rations, no winter clothing, and his remaining horses in poor condition, …was forced to retreat. …When the remnants of Napoleon’s army crossed the Berezina River in November, only 27,000 effective soldiers remained; the Grand Armée had lost some 380,000 men dead and 100,000 captured.”.
This scorched earth policy remained in the Russian playbook in WWII, when Stalin’s army retreated before the Nazi onslaught, grimly waging a war of attrition and devastating the countryside behind them as they retreated in 1941-1942. Then they stubbornly confronted the German army in the Battle of Stalingrad (Wikipedia again), essentially a battle for control of that city on the Volga River from August 23, 1942 to February 2, 1943. I have read that Stalin deliberately lured the Germans into attacking into the vast Russian southwest, already having a plan to confront and destroy them at Stalingrad. What Stalin’s army did not accomplish there, the Russian winter did. It was the most terrible battle, probably, in history, involving some 2.2 million soldiers and causing casualties of “1.7–2 million wounded, killed or captured.” It is thus, historically, not a very good idea to “beard the Russian bear” on his home territory.
The “Scorched Earth” Presidential Election of 2016
In the campaign for the 2012 election, both candidates, but especially Donald Trump, can be said to be conducting a “scorched earth policy” sort of campaign in response to Hillary’s lies and libel and slander. I have followed Presidential campaigns most of my 59 years, yet I have never witnessed the savagery and mean-spirited-ness of the current campaign 2016. The voters are being turned off, at the same time political partisans are rapt in the cruelty and slanderous accusations of this election, especially the Clinton campaign’s supporter’s lately. Hillary’s campaign strategy has heightened and worsened the election’s savagery. See Clinton Accuses Trump of “Stalking” Her During Debate, ABC News, October 14, 2016, by Liz Kreutz. It’s pitifully juvenile. What is the Truth: you should vote for Donald Trump, his economic and tax plan just makes sense. Hillary would be just “more of the same, only worse.”
The fact is, the United States can’t conduct it’s most sacred political function with any decency, nor truly field any truly worthwhile candidates for either party (although I greatly prefer Donald Trump to Hillary’s evil and corruption), yet China is planning 100 years into the future. Meanwhile the greed and stupidity of the elite and super-rich continue unabated. America seems to me to be utterly doomed to me, short term.
The Hill on Donald Trump’s Scorched Earth
Response to Hillary’s Libelous Campaign
The “scorched earth” playbook employed by Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is stirring alarm among allies of Hillary Clinton, with some fearing the negativity will depress turnout on Election Day. [This works in favor of Donald Trump whose supporters are polled as more likely to actually go out and vote.]
Some Clinton supporters say they they’re concerned that voters are nearly fed up with the constant accusations and name-calling that has defined the campaign.
“Of course there’s reason to worry, both about the ‘turn off’ effect, or the impact if polling continues to show her leading by a wide margin,” one longtime Clinton adviser acknowledged on Thursday. “That, too, could lead some to stay home.”
The hostile atmosphere in the race has been worsening by the day.
In the past 48 hours, several women have come out to accuse Trump of sexual misconduct, following the leak of tape where he talked about grabbing women by the genitals. Protestors have been interrupting Clinton to accuse her husband of rape, after Trump brought women who have accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct to the second debate.
