Publicly Funded Elections: Why
We Need Them and How to Get Them

with Cool Mix video playlist
based on Santana’s “Stone Flower”

The Daily Walk with Miracles, April 2, 2016, by Paul Evans, video is Mix: Santana “Stone Flower”, YouTube, 50+ rock music videos. A liberal-conservative coalition exists now in the Senate, let’s use it to pass publicly funded elections. I won’t hit you up with a lot of words (about the playlist) except to say that this is one of the very best mixes (playlists) of classic rock, Santana-oriented music videos there is. That’s why I blogged it for you! I mean, “this is it,” this is one of the very best classic rock mixes I’ve ever listened to, it really has heart and soul. Turn it up and Party Down! Featured photo is from an unknown source, but is in my opinion one of the coolest photos I know of..

IN THE NEWS: Did you see that Obama was the first sitting President since Communism came there to visit Cuba? I read that he was seen posing with a statue of Che, which certainly inflamed the right wing base of the G.O.P. Not only that, in today’s news The Rolling Stones recently played Cuba! Wow, ten years ago that would Never have happened. Like Dylan said, “the times they are a changing.” Then there’s Bernie Sanders, the “Independent, Socialist Democrat” candidate. Five years ago that candidacy would have been unthinkable, and that he (probably will) win over Hillary equally impossible. But think back to when he was a mayor up in Vermont: he wasn’t radical really, he was quite “reasonable,” within a certain wish for more economic fairness and equality. I personally believe the powers that be would love to “get” something on Bernie, but that he’s squeaky clean, and a real breath of honest, fresh air. Honestly, I wish him the best, though I really believe he might also be intelligent enough to ACTUALLY grow the economy with business-friendly solutions such as a “fair and flat” tax, where I’m sure it will be (as it should be) slightly progressive. Even Adam Smith, founder of modern capitalist economic theory, in his Wealth of Nations (1776) thought that the rich should support government in a “more than proportional” amount. From 1950 to 1970 (about), the upper tax bracket was at 94 percent (!), and the economy grew steadily at 4 percent a year, without exception (for twenty straight years). Now the rich are so much in control of Congress and selfish that we just reduced the capital gains tax (again) and getting a fair-and-flat tax at 16.5 or 17.5 percent seems really almost improbable. It’s because of influence (lobbyists) in the election process, mainly.

Publicly Funded Elections: Why
We Need Them and How to Get Them

You see Congressmen, mostly good Christian people, have to get money from corporations in order to be re-elected. So they end up figuratively “selling their souls” to lobbyists (corporations, investment banks) in order to get the campaign funds which they have to have. The courts have spoken and it’s really hard to limit lobbying. But what if there were publicly funded elections? You see that would take lobbyists entirely out of the election process, wouldn’t it?. And we get there – enacting publicly funded elections — by empowering a basically already-existent coalition of the right (Tea Party) and the left (liberals and the true left) to get together on just this one issue: to make all federal elections be publicly funded, with no other funding source legal. The right and the left can’t agree on much, but such a coalition already exists, for example, in the Senate, right now. Rand Paul got a right/left coalition to vote 78 to 18 to limit NSA spying. SO LET’S DO IT PEOPLE. Get together and enact publicly funded election legislation. I know that together, we can do this, and that Obama would sign it. It would end up transforming the whole political landscape, maybe even in time to avert economic disaster. God Bless America!
