Pale Blue Dot – Understanding Infinity:
“The Best Speech about Humanity”
Carl Sagan

Dr. Sagan Puts it All in Perspective
as only this science popularizer could

The Daily Walk with Love, November 14, 2016, by Paul Evans, video is The Best Speech about Humanity – Carl Sagan, courtesy of “The Pander” and YouTube. I would like to thank Professor John Pope of Miami University (OH), who taught me earth history and paleontology, for introducing me to concepts about cosmology and infinity. My friend Bert Bishop also has discussed this video with me helpfully. The green symbol below is a “Triquetra,” Irish luck charm and symbol of love which a man gives to his intended.

SUMMARY: Carl Sagan gives the best speech ever about humanity
and how foolishly we behave. Pale Blue Dot is an important speech about the the nature of infinity, and how this reflects on our humanity. This is a mindblowiing, humbling video.

Also watch U2 “Love and Peace or Else” (Mix). Answer me this, scientists: why is the sy blue? But why does the ammonia exist in an oxidyzing atmosphere? “If you wanna kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel.” And God Bless Wooster, Ohio!

Join the Peace and Love Revolution! The charismatic Christian community, the spiritualist Christians, the “Christian witches” and the earth witches ALL are moral, ethically good people. My Christian brothers and sisters, Jesus taught us to NOT judge each other. “If it is not of love, it is not of God.” Please, in His name, let us set aside our ancient misunderstandings and band together, and fight the REAL evils in the world around us. Amen..

The Pander’s introduction says that “Carl Sagan gives the best speech ever about humanity and how foolish we behave. Pale Blue Dot is one of the most important and reflective speeches about the human condition and our place in the Universe.”

I have had friends who told me they never thought anyone could understand about the whole concept of infinity, and what that’s about. ({You could almost “measure” such a thing by the volume of paper consumed at Treasury’s printing presses, right? LOL I still don’t see why we don’t just mint a bunch of one trillion dollar platinum/iridium coins using a geophysical bomb and put them in Fort Knox, declaring all debts cancelled to and by everyone at the same time, and so starting over from scratch. No one has ever given me a good reason why not. Somebody? Anybody?})

Mathematicians have “integral” equations that measure infinity and you can even graph it, and when you do, it usually involves a fourth dimension. Graphing infinity in ways that involve four factors helps to get a basic grasp of the concept. Achieving a good grasp of geologic time gives you some idea, too. But science is now giving us some “numbers” by which we can begin to grasp the dimensions of infinity: There are about 100 billion stars in our own Milky Way galaxy; that’s 100,000,000,000, or a hundred thousand piles of a million stars each. Ten years ago science said there must be about 100 billion galaxies in the universe, as it was then understood. Now the scientists and astronomers claim that there are 250 billion galaxies in the universe. The number keeps getting bigger, as if, perhaps, the universe is really infinite. Oh they claim it’s about 18 billion light years travel at the speed of light across. But 250 billion galaxies is a lot of stars, and then you have “reflective” so-called black holes, and quasars and nebulae, and they certainly give off light, too.

“The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has never overcome it.” Nowhere in the universe is it any longer perfectly black. And each galaxy has many billions of stars. This is almost frightening and beyond normal comprehension, isn’t it? Just as we really only have the one word “Holy” to describe God.

Carl Sagan (1934 – 1996, read about Dr. Sagan at Wikipedia), narrator of this video, was one of our most distinguished popularizers of modern scientific thought, and has written many wonderful books you can read to understand such things. It is his huge humanity and caring which particularly come through in this short video. [When you read Carl Sagan, you should keep in mind that he was basically an atheist, but then how to explain books he wrote such as “Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark” (Kindle Edition, $13.95)?] Apparently Sagan was very attuned to such religious imagery and probably understood religious thought pretty well, as might a good astronomer and writer, someone with a mind like Sagans [(I have read a few of his books, and particularly enjoyed "The Dragons of Eden: Speculations on the Origin of Human Intelligence" (Kindle Edition, $7.95, it’s the Monster Energy Drinks, Carl))].

If you watch this video, narrated by Dr. Sagan, you can get some idea from the simulation of travel outward through the vastness of space, from Earth what sort of properties, or vastness, infinity involves. Did you know that 90 percent of astronomers believe in God? To me the vastness of space does give some testimony to the omnipotence and infinity of God.
