‘Mark Knopfler rose to fame as the leader of Dire Straits’
and ‘Knopfler’s clean but dexterous picking proved that
traditionalism and a clean sound’ sometimes rules
without sacrificing rhythmic and musical style and complexity.
This is a great concert in Berlin from 2007.

For those of you who, in terms of classic rock ‘n’ roll, have been “living under a rock,” lol, a Google Search for Dire Straits lead singer tells us that “Dire Straits were a British rock band that formed in Deptford, London, in 1977 by Mark Knopfler (lead vocals and lead guitar), his younger brother David Knopfler (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), John Illsley (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Pick Withers (drums and percussion).”
The Daily Walk with Miracles Bible verse for you for the time of original publication, courtesy of The Official King James Bible Online, is Isaiah 43:19 — “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” and please read below the verses about this in the context of the Bible’s true message for Israel: repent now, before it is too late! Is MONEY your morality, is that how you will be remembered when you are gone? If you want to be a true Jew, or a true Christian, live for love and live like Jesus taught!!

See MIX: Dire Straits — Ticket to Heaven, The Daily Walk with Miracles, September 24, 2016, by Paul Evans: “Mark Knopfler’s understated guitar makes this Dire Straits music come shining through.” Like most rock music, it’s mainly about living life and romantic love, and it is a very cool playlist.
From an earlier article, An Evening with Mark Knopfler (2015), The Daily Walk with Miracles, October 12, 2016, by Paul Evans:
The old time Dire Straits was just sooo cool! Watch Dire Straits – “Sultans of Swing”, YouTube — 10:46. You can see what a generation of MTV watchers thought these guys were gods! What I especially love about Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler’s solo playing is how clean and understated it is, that without sacrificing rhythmic and musical style and complexity, it seems so effortless and just very special. See Mark Knopfler – Ticket to Heaven (Mix), on The Daily Walk with Miracles. Peace and Love, everybody!
“Mark Freuder Knopfler, OBE (born 12 August 1949) is a British singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer and film score composer. He is best known as the lead guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for the rock band Dire Straits, which he co-founded with his younger brother, David Knopfler, in 1977.
“Since Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, Knopfler has recorded and produced eight solo albums, and, as with his previous band, produced many hit songs. He has composed and produced film scores for eight films, including Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), and Wag the Dog (1997)….”
Visit the Official Mark Knopfler Facebook page. Please listen to a recent (2015) concert from Spain by Mark Knopfler called Live in Seville [26-07-2015] (YouTube — 1:52:00). See all the great digital rights free mp3’s from Knopfler’s eight solo albums on Amazon.com or on iTunes, which comments:
The most celebrated British guitar hero to emerge in the 1970s and ’80s, Mark Knopfler rose to fame as the leader of Dire Straits, and his songwriting and incisive guitar work played a decisive role in making them an international success story. At a time when punk and new wave were making technique for its own sake seem irrelevant, and metal was taking the guitar solo in noisier and unpredictable directions, Knopfler’s clean but dexterous picking proved there was still room for traditionalism and chops in mainstream rock & roll.
ASIDE: Microsoft is selling its new Surface PC’s running something called “Windows 10 S.” The only problem is, it won’t run Chrome, it won’t run Quicken, and it won’t run iTunes. This is being “proprietary” and selfish about your operating systems just too far or much, and they will find that people avoid Windows 10 S unless they modify it to at least run iTunes, and hopefully Chrome too. I know they want to push their new Edge internet browser, but they should let it stand on it’s own two feet. If people want Chrome, they are going to find a way to run it or avoid your whole Windows 10 operating system. It will really bring down sales of whatever Surface laptops that run Windows 10 S. Are you listening, Microsoft?
Visit the Official Mark Knopfler website. Also check out the official website of Dire Straits, which features The Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler Guide. I always have owned Dire Straits Greatest Hits, which is called “Sultans Of Swing: The Very Best Of Dire Straits (Full Compilation) . My two favorite songs on that album are “Heavy, Heavy Fuel” and “Calling Elvis.” You like guitar solos? Try “Going Home.” It’s nuanced, not flashy, like all of Knopfler’s picking, but if you do listen hard, you’ll be very rewarded. Please also feel encouraged to watch “Brothers in Arms.” And this may seem strange to say, Mark, but “may the ghost of Elvis guide you well.”
