Render Unto God What is God’s
and Render Unto Caesars What is Caesars

This is exceptional, avant-garde but highly listenable
jazz piano which I first became familiar with
in 1976 and have loved ever since.

Keith Jarrett is among the best
in avant garde jazz piano

The Daily Walk with Miracles updated February 24, 2017, by Paul Evans, full recording of The Koln (Cologne), Germany Concert courtesy of Jazz and YouTube. Photo of Keith Jarrett is courtesy of ABC and Wikipedia, “fire hearts” photos from innerprints.wordpress.com. I had a strong wish to hear this again, so I’m republishing it here for you all, too.

This is exceptional, avant-garde but highly listenable jazz piano which I first became familiar with in 1976 and have loved ever since. I am very grateful for having run into more wonderful recordings by Keith Jarrett on YouTube, which made my night. I used to have the concert we feature here on an LP 33 1/3 record.

Wikipedia says of Keith Jarrett that:

"Keith Jarrett (born May 8, 1945) is an American pianist and composer who performs both jazz and classical music.

"Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has enjoyed a great deal of success as a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music."

The Köln Concert (1975, full album) is very “accessible” (or easy on the ears). It is avant-garde yet reaches the ear of the common listener like me very well. It just sounds good, and you’re glad you spent the time. Every time I here it I want to listen to still more Keith Jarrett.

Visit the official Keith Jarrett Facebook page, where we got our featured photo on the Home page link to this article. Check out Amazon.com for their selection of Keith Jarrett mp3 albums, most of which cost $11.43 just for the digital downloads. Listen to a great short concert simply titled Piano Improvisation, from 1973. Visit KeithJarrett.org, “An unofficial website about jazz pianist Keith Jarrett,” which, sadly, is not kept current. Watch and listen to Keith Jarrett – Arbour Zena (Full Album), “A beautiful album of Keith Jarrett, with the contribution of Jan Garbarek in Sax, Charlie Haden in Bass and members of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra.”

Also at Amazon.com, another highly thought of Keith Jarrett concert, the ♫Vienna Concert♫, as with most of Keith’s mp3 albums, an $11.49 digital download.
