76 Percent of Americans Support
Net Neutrality: Don’t Let Them
“Slip one in” at the FCC
The Daily Walk with Miracles, republished July 19, 2017, by Paul Evans, with primary source of New Mozilla Poll: Americans from Both Political Parties Overwhelmingly Support Net Neutrality, Mozilla Blog, June 6, 2017, by Mozilla (the Firefox people). “Our survey also reveals that a majority of Americans do not trust the government to protect Internet access.” Included video is Foxy Fights for Net Neutrality, Mozilla on YouTube, May 19, 2017, by Mozilla — 1:09
According to Wikipedia, Net Neutrality is “the principle that Internet service providers and governments regulating the Internet must treat all data on the Internet the same, not discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of communication.” For the freedom to read what you want from any website without interference by any ISP (internet service provider) interfering, for the actual freedom of speech on the internet, and for small, independent websites, this is absolutely vital.
They’re trying to turn the internet into pablum. They’re trying to take away your free, unfettered access to free, honest, unbiased news. The internet has always been free. Whether it stays free is up to us! They’re trying to slip this change to remove the governing internet neutrality in at the FCC. Supporting internet neutrality is NOT supporting any sort of regulation, actually, the opposite is true. Supporting net neutrality is supporting freedom of speech.
From the Mozilla blog:
…A recent public opinion poll carried out by Mozilla and Ipsos revealed overwhelming support across party lines for net neutrality, with over three quarters of Americans (76%) supporting net neutrality. Eighty-one percent of Democrats and 73% of Republicans are in favor of it.
Mozilla and Ipsos carried out the poll in late May, on the heels of the FCC’s vote to begin dismantling Obama-era net neutrality rules. We polled approximately 1,000 American adults across the U.S., a sample that included 354 Democrats, 344 Republicans, and 224 Independents.
At Mozilla, we believe net neutrality is integral to a healthy Internet: it enables Americans to say, watch and make what they want online, without meddling or interference from ISPs (Internet Service Providers, such as AT&T, Verizon, and Time Warner). Net neutrality is fundamental to free speech, competition, innovation and choice online.

See Major tech firms, internet providers clash over U.S. net neutrality rules, Reuters, July 17, 2017, by David Shepardson:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Tech companies clashed with internet service providers on Monday over whether a landmark 2015 net neutrality order barring the blocking or slowing of web content should be scrapped by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
A group representing major technology firms including Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) and Facebook Inc (FB.O) urged the FCC to abandon plans to rescind the rules barring internet service providers from hindering consumer access to web content or offering paid “fast lanes.”
Sign the Mozilla Internet Neutrality petition, which the FCC will review before they make their final ruling August 18th.
