A Note on Repentance

Some Special Bible Verses
to Think About

The Daily Walk with Miracles, March 26, 2017, by Paul Evans, with musical inspiration of Jackson Browne-Late For The Sky Full Album, Rocker for Life and YouTube – 40:45. Dedicated to the special, kind woman whom I know God will soon bring into my life that can see past my poverty and limitations and offer me a lasting friendship. My dating profile at PlentyOfFish.com, (the largest free dating website) is here, and you all should feel invited to email me, Paul, at paul.miracles57@gmail.com for Christian friendship and fellowship.

A Bible verse God gave me for this article is Zechariah 1: 1-6 (KJV), at Bible Study Tools. Yes, we must “turn from our evil ways” and shun the devil. However, in regards to living a truly Christian life, I do want to note that, in terms of Jew verses Gentile and our behaviors, the “rules” for what is right and good and what is not seem to be somewhat different for the those of Christian versus Jewish faith. It thus is also “different” for those who place any emphasis on the Old Testament versus those of us who are oriented to a New Testament, faith directed sort of life. Jewish people seem to place emphasis on the letter of the law, whereas right minded Gentiles at least try to follow the spirit of the law. This can be a difficult thing to understand until you have lived for a while and also studied Scripture extensively. The “letter” and the “spirit” of the law do not always coincide very easily in practice, it is not so easy. It can be a daunting, difficult task, but that is why God gave us this life, to learn lessons.

Repenting is something God calls every man and woman to do, but which is not always so obvious. We must especially resist the lusts of the flesh, something I have been very wrong-minded about most of my life. I humbly dedicate the remainder of my life to a more righteous existence and apologize to all my good friends for my stupid stubbornness about this. I was wrong.

A special atoning Bible verse God granted me today is Psalm 51:15-17 – 15. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 16. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Also see 1 Peter chapter 1, Matthew chapter 6 and 1 Corinthians chapter 1.

ONE set of two commands is sacred and immutable: “Love God, and Love Your Neighbor as Yourselves.” Really, we all fall short in this. However, whatever our understanding of “the rules” is, can we simply try a little harder to be truly kind to each other? Also highly recommended at Bible Study Tools is The Most Important Passage in the Whole of Scripture, by Michael J. Kruger, which is an easily understandable and important truth. It is through faith that we are saved, but it is given to us not through any works of ours, but through God’s grace and Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, the will of God.

Another verse God gave me today to share with you, regarding stupid doctrinal differences among us, which Jesus warned against, is Ephesians 4:4-6 – 4. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5. One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. The various Christian denominations would do well to remember this passage and fully incorporate it in any of their largely false, doctrinal beliefs. While currently I mostly attend a Disciples of Christ church, the United Church of Christ handles this problem well. They state that most Christians ascribe to various of these doctrinal beliefs (which they have listed), but that this church enforces no doctrinal “test” for membership. It is doctrine which only serves to divide the church. At the last supper the disciples asked Jesus, “what do you want,” and He answered, “That they all may be one,” one holy Christian church, IF you want to please Jesus, that is. Amen.
